The person we, the people of Hawaii, “hired” with the most powerful tool the world has seen, the right to vote, has negatively impacted our children's education AND unbeknown to her employers, the people of Hawaii, our children's abilities to gain a nutritious meal in school and the parents pocket books. It started, when our employee reduced the education budget by 250 million dollars!

Our Employee, The Governor, Has Caused Hawaii's Children to Have The Shortest School Year In The Nation

As reported on CNN. Anyone with a thought process knows this affects our children's education, but let's look deeper at what our employee caused when she reduced the education budget. Furlough days were initiated after our employee reduced the education budget, based on a contract she approved.

Yes, it took two groups to sign that contract, but regardless of what the head of the teacher's union state's, for her, it is about the money. That's her job! To get the best possible benefits and salaries for the people she represents. Our employees job is to protect our children and us. This, was done poorly.

So How Does This Budget Cut Our Employee Ordered Affect Our Children's Nutrition

The cost of school lunches has doubled! We are now paying $2.20 for lunch. Now you do the math and see what this costs the average family for the school year, which ironically, since it's the shortest school year in the nation, saves us money.

Many parents are now sending their child to school with homemade lunches. That's fine, but let's take a look at the bureaucratic thought process here.

At this point, most of you are considering moving on to read something else because you know this already but don't feel you can do anything about it, but keep reading, I'm going to give you a very basic suggestion at the end.

So How Does This Budget Cut Our Employee Ordered Affect Parents Pocket Books

Most homes have two working parents. Single parents also must work. What are some parents doing with their children during furlough Days? Taking them to daycares and paying more money for daycare than they have been paying. Daycares are charging $25.00 per furlough day. Multiply that by 17.

Substitute teachers are not being hired because teachers are not attending workshops due to the pressure to complete the curriculum in the nations shortest school year. Not attending workshops and other educational events will put our teacher behind in educational developments as well having even further impact on our children's education. Those retired teachers and teachers who have moved from other states to offer their educational skills are being impacted directly by our employees decision to take 250 million dollars from our children.

Will Our Children Be Able to Get to School?

Bus routes are being cut and prices going up for those children who ride the bus. Another direct result of our employee not protecting our children and affecting the pocket book of the parents.

So What Can Parents Do?

The average person complains about how their employees they hired with their vote are running things, yet the average person doesn't even know the names of the people they hired. WE THE PEOPLE must become more active in the lives of those we hire with the most powerful tool in the world, our vote. Politicians, sometimes rely on our ignorance and are unfortunately not often disappointed.

We hired her, we fire her. That simple, but we have to remember this. We must remember who are representatives are that we hired, so we can determine whether or not they have jobs next time a campaign or interview if you will, takes place.

It's time for the silent majority to flex its muscles and keep flexing. It's time to fire someone.
